Tinubu Approves Posting of Reno Omokri to Mexico, Mahmud Yakubu to Qatar, Fani-Kayode to Germany, Sulu-Gambari and 62 Others as Ambassadors

President has approved the posting of 65 ambassadors-designate—comprising 31 career diplomats and 34 non-career ambassadors—to various diplomatic missions across the world and to the United Nations.

This was disclosed on Friday by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, , in an official statement.

According to the statement, the postings follow the confirmation of the ambassadors-designate by the Nigerian Senate in December, after which the President approved their respective missions in line with Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements and foreign policy objectives.

Among the notable appointments are , posted to Mexico, to Qatar, and to Germany.

Other prominent nominees include as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, to Canada, to China, and to Australia.

Onanuga further stated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received the agreement from the United Kingdom for the High Commissioner-designate, Ambassador Aminu Dalhatu, while France has also approved the appointment of Ambassador Ayo Oke.

He added that the ministry has formally communicated the nominations of the remaining envoys to their respective host countries and requested agreement in line with standard diplomatic protocol.

President Tinubu has also directed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to immediately commence the induction programme for the ambassadors-designate and High Commissioners ahead of their formal deployment to their respective diplomatic missions.
