APGA Opts Out of 2027 Presidential Race, Declares Support for Tinubu’s Second-Term Bid
The (APGA) has announced that it will not field a presidential candidate in the 2027 general elections, declaring its intention to support the re-election bid of President , should he emerge as the presidential candidate of the (APC).
The announcement was made by the party’s National Chairman, who stated that the decision reflects APGA’s alignment with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda and the shared ideological values between both political platforms.
According to Ezeokenwa, APGA believes that supporting President Tinubu’s administration will further promote national development, economic stability, and progressive governance in Nigeria.
He noted that the party’s decision to adopt a presidential candidate from another political party is not unprecedented.
Ezeokenwa recalled that APGA adopted and supported former President Goodluck Jonathan during the 2011 Nigerian Presidential Election and the 2015 Nigerian Presidential Election.
The APGA chairman emphasized that the party’s stance ahead of the 2027 elections is guided by strategic political considerations and a commitment to advancing policies that align with its core values and vision for Nigeria.
He reaffirmed the party’s readiness to collaborate with like-minded political stakeholders in strengthening democratic governance and fostering sustainable development across the country.
