Governor Presents 2026 Budget of Shared Prosperity to Lagos State House of Assembly

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu today formally presented the 2026 Budget Estimates to the Lagos State House of Assembly, marking a significant milestone as the final full-year budget of the current administration.

Speaking during the presentation, the Governor noted that the moment reflects both the progress made over the years and the continued commitment to building a safer, stronger, and more inclusive Lagos for all residents.

The 2026 Budget of Shared Prosperity is valued at ₦4.237 trillion, supported by a projected revenue of ₦3.994 trillion. This leaves a manageable financing gap of ₦243.33 billion, which the administration assured will be responsibly financed.

According to the Governor, the budget is designed to directly improve the quality of life for Lagosians by expanding access to essential services, strengthening government systems, accelerating the completion of critical infrastructure, and ensuring that the gains of the prosperity agenda extend to every part of the state.

He emphasized that the achievements recorded in 2025—across education, healthcare, transportation, housing, technology, environmental sustainability, and public safety—form the foundation for the 2026 fiscal plan.

Of the total budget size, ₦2.185 trillion is allocated to capital expenditure, while ₦2.052 trillion is dedicated to recurrent spending, including personnel costs, overheads, and other operational obligations necessary for the efficient running of government.

“As we proceed into the final full year of this administration, our commitment remains unwavering—to keep Lagos secure, to keep Lagos working, and to ensure that growth and prosperity reach every resident,” the Governor stated.

He expressed appreciation to the Lagos State House of Assembly, the civil service, party leadership, and the people of Lagos for their unwavering support and partnership.

“Together, we will continue to build a Lagos that is safer, cleaner, more prosperous, and more inclusive than ever before,” he added.

Thank you, Lagos. Let’s keep moving forward.
