Abia State Sport Commissioner Lauds Athletes’ Performance at Gateway Games 2024

As the National Sports Festival, Gateway Games 2024, continues to thrill sports enthusiasts in Ogun State, Abia State’s Sport Commissioner, Mr. Nwaobilor Ananaba, has expressed satisfaction with the performance of his state’s athletes. Despite being in ninth position on the medals table, Ananaba believes this is a sign of positive development in the state’s sports sector.

In an exclusive interview, Ananaba attributed the state’s progress to the vision and support of the Executive Governor of Abia State, who recognizes the potential of sports to drive youth development positively.

The Commissioner for Youth and Sport highlighted the state’s plans to build a modern international stadium, which will provide a world-class facility for athletes to train and compete.

“We are pleased with the performance of our athletes at this festival,” Ananaba said.

“Being in ninth position is a significant achievement for us, considering we have never made it to the top 10 before. This is a testament to the progress we have made in developing sports in Abia State.”

Ananaba’s optimism is rooted in the state’s commitment to investing in sports infrastructure and supporting its athletes. With the Governor’s backing, the state is poised to produce more talented athletes who can compete at the highest levels.

The Gateway Games 2024 has provided a platform for states to showcase their sporting prowess, and Abia State is determined to build on its current success.
