CAA U-18/U-20 Championships: Team Nigeria Dominates Girls’ 100m Events at CAA U-18/U-20 Championships

The ongoing CAA U-18/U-20 Athletics Championship at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena in Abeokuta, Ogun State, has witnessed a remarkable performance by Team Nigeria in the girls’ 100m events.
The Nigerian athletes swept the medals in the U-18 category, with Miracle Ezechukwu claiming gold with a time of 11.88 seconds, followed by Rosemary Nwankwo with silver in 11.96 seconds, and Miriam Jegede securing bronze with a time of 12.20 seconds.
In the girls’ U-20 100m final, Nigeria’s Chioma Nweke took the gold medal with a time of 11.65 seconds, while Success Oyibu claimed silver with a time of 11.78 seconds.
Although Nigeria’s Chiamaka Nwankwo finished fourth with a time of 11.98 seconds, Cote d’Ivoire’s Chantal Lou Yoman secured the bronze medal with a time of 11.87 seconds.
In the boys’ events, James Igbigbidje secured the bronze medal in the U-18 100m final with a time of 10.89 seconds, behind South Africa’s Manavhela Mukona (gold, 10.61 seconds) and Fourie Jayden (silver, 10.76 seconds).
In the U-20 category, John Caleb claimed the bronze medal with a time of 10.61 seconds, behind Clinton Owatinya and Letebele Karabo of South Africa, who took the gold and silver medals with times of 10.42 seconds and 10.54 seconds, respectively.
Nigeria also emerged victorious in the 4x400m mixed relay event in the U-20 category, further adding to the country’s impressive medal tally.
The outstanding performance by Team Nigeria at the CAA U-18/U-20 Championships showcases the country’s rich athletic talent and potential for future success in major international competitions.
