Davido and Asa to Light Up Gateway Games 2024 Opening Ceremony

The 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games 2024, is set to kick off with a bang as two of Nigeria’s biggest music stars, Davido and Asa, will perform live at the opening ceremony. The event will take place today, Sunday, May 18th, at the MKO Sports Arena in Abeokuta, Ogun State capital, starting at 5 pm.

The organizers have promised a world-class event, with top-notch activities and cultural displays lined up to make the Games unforgettable. According to the Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Hon. Bukola Olopade, who is also the Chairman of the Main Organising Committee, the stage is set for an opening ceremony like no other.

“We have put up a world-class event to mark the opening ceremony today. This is our own Olympics, and from start to finish, the festival must portray that global feel, both in competition and organization,” Olopade said.

The musical lineup promises to be exciting, with Asa set to kick off the ceremony and Davido closing it up. While the details of the in-between performances remain under wraps, Nigerians are in for a treat. “Stay glued to your television, because you’re about to witness an opening ceremony like never before,” Olopade teased.
