Dr. Kola Oredipe Seeks SWAN’s Support for AFN Board Aspirations

The founder of SamKay Athletics Club, Dr. Kola Oredipe, has reached out to the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) for support as he vies for the South-South zonal position on the board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN). Dr. Oredipe made the appeal during a press briefing at the Media Centre of the 22nd National Sports Festival in Abeokuta, Ogun State.Dr. Oredipe, who is also the Vice Chairman of the Bayelsa State Athletics Association, emphasized the importance of SWAN’s support in propagating his vision and antecedents across the country and beyond. As a former sports journalist and founder of a renowned athletics academy, Dr. Oredipe is committed to promoting innovation, inclusiveness, and grassroots development in athletics.Dr. Oredipe outlined his plans for regular competitions in the South-South region to discover, nurture, and grow young athletes. He believes his experience and expertise would be valuable assets to the AFN board.In a goodwill message, SWAN President Benjamin Isaiah extended the Association’s solidarity to Dr. Oredipe, urging sports journalists to seek leadership positions in sports federations. SWAN President Isaiah lauded Dr. Oredipe for his bold initiative, noting that it would inspire other journalists to follow suit.
