Nigeria’s Wrestlers Commended for Exceptional Performance

The National Sports Commission (NSC) has extended its warmest congratulations to Nigerian wrestlers on their outstanding achievement at the 2025 Senior Wrestling Championships in Morocco. The team demonstrated remarkable prowess, securing a total of 10 gold medals, 1 silver medal, and 1 bronze medal.
Nigeria emerged as the top team, with the female contingent claiming the overall championship title for the 14th time after winning nine gold medals. The men’s team also made history by winning the African championship title for the first time in four years, thanks to Steve Simon Izolo’s gold medal victory.
NSC Chairman Mallam Shehu Dikko commended the team for their exceptional performance, assuring them that their achievements would be duly recognized and rewarded. NSC Director General Hon. Bukola Olopade acknowledged the athletes’ hard work and commended the leadership of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation, particularly President Daniel Igali, for their transformative impact on the sport.
The NSC reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the well-being and success of Nigerian athletes. The Commission expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support and acknowledged the contributions of the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, to the growth of Nigerian sports.
