NPFL Announces Start and End Dates for 2025/2026 Season

The Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) has officially announced the commencement and conclusion dates for the 2025/2026 season.

According to Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, Chairman of the NPFL, the season is set to begin on Friday, August 22, 2025, and will come to a close on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

The season will span approximately 9 months, allowing for adequate preseason preparations and rest.

The league will retain its 20-team format, with matchday schedules and player registration guidelines to be released in due course.

The chosen dates align with CAF and FIFA timelines, enabling clubs to prepare for both domestic and continental campaigns.

The League fixtures are expected to be released in the coming weeks, providing clarity on the season’s schedule.
