PRESIDENT TINUBU ANNOUNCES CHANGES IN SERVICE CHIEFS

In a decisive move to further strengthen Nigeria’s national security architecture, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved changes in the leadership of the nation’s Armed Forces.

The President has appointed General Olufemi Oluyede as the new Chief of Defence Staff, succeeding General Christopher Musa. The new Chief of Army Staff is Major-General W. Shaibu; Air Vice Marshal S.K. Aneke has been appointed Chief of Air Staff; while Rear Admiral I. Abbas assumes office as the new Chief of Naval Staff.

The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P. Undiendeye, retains his position.

President Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, extends his profound appreciation to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, and other departing Service Chiefs for their exemplary service, steadfast dedication, and commitment to the nation’s peace and security.

The President urges the newly appointed Service Chiefs to justify the confidence reposed in them by upholding the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and unity that define the Nigerian Armed Forces.

All appointments take immediate effect.
