Super Falcons Hold Portugal to 0-0 Draw in Pre-WAFCON Friendly

The Super Falcons of Nigeria held their own against Portugal in a 0-0 draw in a pre-WAFCON friendly match in Lisbon on Monday.
The nine-time African champions showcased their skills and determination, despite arriving in Portugal less than 24 hours before the match.
Reigning African best goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie had a standout performance, making several crucial saves to keep the scoreline even.
Her heroics in the 9th, 24th, and second-half saves denied the Portuguese team from taking the lead.
The Super Falcons created several scoring opportunities, with Francisca Ordega and Rasheedat Ajibade causing problems for the Portuguese defense.
Rinsola Babajide had a chance to score just before halftime, but overhit the ball.
The injection of Ifeoma Onumonu, Ashleigh Plumptre, and Halimatu Ayinde in the second half rejuvenated the Falcons’ game, and they took control of the match.
Ordega’s brilliant move and pass into the box in the 64th minute went begging, and Onumonu’s effort from another Ordega cross fell just short.
The Super Falcons will depart for Casablanca on Wednesday, where they will face Ghana’s Black Queens in another friendly match on Sunday.
Their first match of the 13th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations is against Tunisia on July 6th in Casablanca.
