2025 World Para Powerlifting Championships: Nigeria’s Rita Ferdinand Strikes Gold in 79kg Event in Cairo

Nigeria’s dominance at the 2025 World Para Powerlifting Championships continued in spectacular fashion as Rita Ferdinand claimed gold in the women’s up to 79kg category in Cairo, Egypt.

Ferdinand delivered a commanding performance, lifting 153kg to secure the world title and further solidify Nigeria’s position as a global powerhouse in para powerlifting.

Her victory adds to the country’s growing medal tally at this landmark championship.

Earlier in the day, Esther Nworgu clinched silver in the women’s 50kg category, while teammate Rukayat Opeyemi Ajiboye earned bronze in the same event.

The closely contested category saw Venezuela’s Clara Fuentes narrowly edge out Nworgu to take gold.

The 11th edition of the World Para Powerlifting Championships — held from October 9–18, 2025 — is a historic milestone, marking the first time the event is hosted on African soil.

The championship showcases the continent’s rising prominence in adaptive sports and underscores Nigeria’s continued excellence on the world stage.

  1. I was wondering if you ever considered changing the page layout of your site?
Its very well written; I love what youve got to say.

But maybe you could a little more in the way of content so people could connect with it better.
Youve got an awful lot of text for only having one or 2 pictures.

Maybe you could space it out better?
